The wedge is real: you literally can't legally curb a TV in Colorado, and the city won't take it — a certified-diversion hauler is the compliant option, and ours is flat-priced.
No — on two counts. First, since July 2013 Colorado's e-waste law, SB12-133, has banned TVs, computers, laptops, monitors, and printers from Colorado landfills. They're not allowed in your regular trash, and a hauler who "just dumps them" is breaking the law. Second, they're excluded from Denver's Large Item Pickup — the free curbside program runs only about once every nine weeks, takes five large items, and doesn't accept electronics (or appliances or tires) at all.
So a Denver resident with an old TV genuinely can't self-solve it through the trash or the city: it has to go to a certified electronics recycler. That's exactly what we do — carry it out and divert it to an e-cycler with the diversion documented — which is why "we recycle them properly" isn't marketing here, it's the only legal path.
Every piece routes to a certified e-cycler — the only lawful destination under Colorado's ban. There, screens, circuit boards, metals, and plastics are separated and the valuable materials recovered, while the hazardous parts of older sets (leaded CRT glass, mercury backlights) are kept out of the ground. Where a device holds data, drives are handled for destruction. Working gear in good shape can be routed for reuse first.
