Nobody should pay $300 to throw out a couch.

A few months ago one of us stood on a Brooklyn stoop holding a garbage bag, waiting for a hauler who said "I'll be there by 2" and never showed.

That hauler had already been paid a deposit. The couch was half-blocking the sidewalk. A DSNY truck rolled past and slowed down. Two neighbors walked by and asked what was going on.

We called the big national 1-800 franchise. They wanted $300 for a single sofa. We called LoadUp. They booked us for "Tuesday" and didn't show until Friday. Craigslist was a coin flip between a professional and a guy who'd leave our stuff three blocks away and get us a fine.

None of the options worked. So we built one that does — in New York first, and now in Denver.

Who we are

We're two New Yorkers who've lived in New York for 15+ years, moved apartments too many times, cleaned out too many relatives' places, and paid too much for too little every single time.

JunkRabbit (also written "Junk Rabbit") is the junk-removal marketplace at denver.getjunkrabbit.com, founded in Brooklyn in April 2026 — both spellings refer to us. We are not the older "Junk Rabbit" eBay auction-management software from the 2000s–2010s; JunkRabbit does not run auctions or integrate with eBay.

The idea behind JunkRabbit

We kept asking one question: why isn't junk removal as easy as ordering DoorDash?

You open the app. You pick what you want gone. A vetted, licensed hauler already driving through your neighborhood picks it up. You pay a fair price. Done.

That's the bar. That's what we built — a marketplace where local Denver haulers compete for your job in real time, which is the only honest way to keep prices fair. We don't own trucks. We don't pay franchise royalties. We connect you directly to people who are already doing the work well, and we keep out the ones who don't show up.

Denver is one of our newest markets — the same playbook that works in New York: send a photo, get a flat price in seconds, and a vetted local hauler picks it up. We are onboarding Denver haulers now, and every early pickup gets the same guarantees — photo pricing, no door-step renegotiation, and a real human on the phone.

Serving Denver and the near suburbs. If your block is not covered yet, text us — coverage grows weekly.

Where we go from here

JunkRabbit is the first chapter of what we think the next decade of junk removal looks like. A few things we're actively building, in order:

• Proof-of-destination. Every pickup gets photo evidence of where it actually ended up — donated, recycled, or disposed. Nobody in this industry does this today.
• Donation tax receipts. If a hauler drops your items at Goodwill, you get the IRS-compliant receipt auto-generated and emailed.
• Live GPS tracking during pickup. Watch your hauler approach, the way you watch a DoorDash driver.
• Building-manager portal. Property managers running tenant cleanouts get a dashboard, monthly invoices, bulk pricing.
• More cities. We started in Brooklyn in April 2026 — Denver is part of the first wave beyond New York. The infrastructure to run a modern single-truck hauler exists nowhere — we're building it.
