Technically yes — but it's the slowest, most hands-on option there is. The City & County of Denver runs a free Large Item Pickup program (schedule it through Denver 311 · 720-913-1311), and it will take a couch. The catch is threefold: it runs only about once every nine weeks on your trash zone's rotating schedule, it's capped at five large items per pickup, and it's curbside-only — meaning you have to muscle the sofa out of the house and down to the curb, then leave it sitting on the street until the truck eventually comes. For a renter facing a lease deadline, an owner mid-move, or anyone who physically can't carry a sofa outside, that program isn't a real answer. It also only serves Denver's city trash customers — apartment buildings and the surrounding suburbs often aren't on it at all. We're the opposite: we come to the room the couch is in, carry it out for you, and haul it the same day.
A couch in clean, resellable shape doesn't belong in a landfill, so we route it to donation first — Goodwill of Colorado, ARC Thrift Stores, and Habitat for Humanity ReStore all take usable upholstered furniture across the metro, and donating it earns you a tax receipt on request. What's too worn to donate is broken down and disposed responsibly, with the frame's metal and wood diverted where we can.
