The short answer
Bed frames price by what they are made of and how big they are, because that is what determines the work.
| Item | Price |
|---|---|
| Bed Frame (Standard / Metal / Platform) | $68 |
| Bed Frame (Solid/Upholstered/Storage) — Twin / Full / Queen | $126 |
| Bed Frame (Solid/Upholstered/Storage) — King / Cal King | $152 |
| Headboard | $57 |
| Bunk Bed | $123 |
| Bunk Bed — Solid Wood / Loft | $148 |
| Daybed | $89 |
| Trundle Bed | $100 |
| Murphy Bed (Wall Bed) | $130 |
| Adjustable Bed Base (Motorized) | $118 |
| Crib | $67 |
| Waterbed | $167 |
Taking it apart is included. The minimum for a visit is $75, and there is no stair charge.
Why frames fail early in Denver
There is a real physical reason bed frames come apart faster here than in most of the country, and it is the air. Denver sits at 5,280 feet with humidity in single digits for long stretches, and wood gives up moisture to dry air. Joints shrink, dowels loosen, and the glue in cheap flat-pack joinery loses its grip.
A platform bed assembled in a first apartment in Capitol Hill will often be racking noticeably by its third Denver winter — a diagonal wobble that tightening does not fix, because the holes have gone oval. Solid wood frames fare much better, but even those develop creaks that they would not develop at sea level.
The practical effect: flat-pack frames are not worth trying to resell here, and they usually will not survive being carried down a flight of stairs, which is why they end up on a truck rather than a classifieds listing. A Bed Frame (Standard / Metal / Platform) is $68.
Bunk beds and lofts, which Denver has a lot of
Two separate reasons.
Small bedrooms in old houses. The bungalows in Park Hill, Congress Park, Platt Park and Berkeley have modest second and third bedrooms, and plenty of families put two kids in one of them. Bunks solve it.
Mountain-adjacent guest space. Basement guest rooms and finished attic rooms across the metro get bunks or lofts because the house is a staging point for people heading up to the hills on winter weekends.
Either way, a bunk is a genuinely awkward removal. It has to come apart in situ, the rails are long, and the route out is frequently a turning basement stair or a narrow attic stair. A Bunk Bed is $123 and a Bunk Bed — Solid Wood / Loft is $148, disassembly included. With the mattress off it, a bunk and a twin mattress together is $123 + $82 = $205.
The bungalow stair decides the method
The characteristic Denver basement stair — steep, narrow, a hard turn at a landing, often under seven feet of headroom — is the reason bed frame removal is a real job rather than a trivial one. A king frame's side rails are longer than the landing is deep. An upholstered platform base with a storage drawer does not fold.
What happens in practice is that the frame comes apart upstairs, or at the landing, and goes out in pieces. That is included in the price. The same applies to the pre-war brick walk-ups in Cheesman Park and Uptown, where the switchback stair and the narrow vestibule door mean a king frame never went in assembled and is not coming out assembled either.
A common pairing when a bedroom is cleared: the solid queen frame and its headboard, $126 + $57 = $183.
Frames that need their own plan
- Murphy beds. $130. These are mechanically anchored into wall framing with a counterbalance spring or piston under tension. Do not unbolt one yourself on a whim — the mechanism is under load. Tell us it is a wall bed when you book.
- Adjustable motorised bases. $118. Heavy, with a motor and a transformer. They fold, but they fold in a specific order and they are much heavier than they look.
- Waterbeds. $167. Drained completely first — a filled one is several thousand pounds of water sitting on a Denver bungalow's hundred-year-old floor joists. The frame is then simple timber.
- Storage platforms with built-in drawers. Priced as a solid frame, $126 or $152 by size. Empty the drawers. People forget, every time.
Sell, donate, or haul
Solid wood frames are worth listing. Denver's steady inflow of new arrivals furnishing first apartments in Capitol Hill, Uptown and along Havana in Aurora keeps demand constant for real furniture, and a well-made frame moves fast.
Metal frames and flat-pack platforms are not worth the weeks. Neither are frames that have already been taken apart and reassembled once, because the hardware is usually shot. Donation crews will take a sound frame from an accessible entrance but will not go down a bungalow basement stair to get one.
The sensible plan: list the solid pieces with a deadline, and book one pickup for everything else while the mattress is going too. A mattress and box spring set at $143 with a solid queen frame is $143 + $126 = $269.
Before the crew arrives
- Strip the bed. Bedding off, mattress and box spring separated and standing clear.
- Empty storage drawers and under-bed bins. In Denver that usually means ski gear, a duffel and off-season clothing.
- Say if it is a Murphy bed so the crew comes with the right approach.
- Say which floor. It does not change the price, but a third-floor walk-up in Cheesman Park and an open Highlands Ranch primary bedroom are different crews and different timing.
Frequently asked questions
How much does bed frame removal cost in Denver?
$68 for a standard metal or platform frame, $126 for a solid, upholstered or storage frame in twin through queen, and $152 for a king or Cal king. A headboard on its own is $57. Disassembly and the carry-out are included and the minimum for a visit is $75.
Do you take the frame apart?
Yes, and it is in the price. It usually has to happen anyway — Denver's turning bungalow basement stairs and narrow walk-up vestibules mean a king frame or a bunk bed simply will not come out assembled.
Can you take a Murphy bed off the wall?
Yes, $130. Flag it when you book. Wall beds are anchored into framing and the counterbalance mechanism is under tension, so it is not a good thing to start unbolting yourself.
Will you take the mattress at the same time?
Yes. A queen mattress is $103, a king is $114 and a box spring of any size is $92. A mattress and box spring set is $143. Bundling saves a second visit and keeps you clear of the $75 minimum.
Is my old bed frame worth selling in Denver?
If it is solid wood, usually yes — there is constant demand from new arrivals furnishing apartments here. If it is flat-pack, usually no. Dry air at altitude works loose the glue and dowels in cheap joinery, and buyers can spot a frame that racks.
