Apartment Cleanout on
Capitol Hill

Cap Hill (80203 / 80218) is Denver's densest apartment neighborhood — block after block of 1900s–1920s brick walk-ups with no elevator and grand mansions carved into apartments, with the highest renter turnover in the city. When the lease is up, we clear the unit and carry it all the way down the stairs — a third-floor walk-up is just part of the flat photo-quoted price from $325. No elevator surcharge, no per-flight fee, parking handled, same-day. And no Colorado sales tax on the service.

How a Cap Hill apartment cleanout works

1 · Send photos

Snap the unit — the rooms, the pile by the door, whatever's staying behind. You get an exact flat price back in seconds, by item or as a truck-fill for the whole apartment.

2 · Pick a time

Same-day is usually open, and during the April–September lease-turn crush we plan around move-out deadlines. Tell us the floor and the street; the stairs and the parking are on us.

3 · We carry it down & haul

A vetted crew clears the unit from the top floor down — stairs, no elevator, no problem — and hauls it. Mattresses recycled, usable furniture donated. You lift nothing.

The Cap Hill reality: pre-war, walk-up, and flat

No Denver neighborhood turns over apartments like Capitol Hill. It's the city's densest rental core — 1900s–1920s brick walk-up buildings, three and four stories with no elevator, plus the grand Victorian and Edwardian mansions carved into apartments along Pennsylvania, Pearl and Sherman. Students, young renters and creatives cycle through constantly, which means a near-endless run of lease-end move-outs, and almost none of these buildings has an elevator or an easy loading situation. The signature job is the walk-up carry-down — getting a couch, a queen mattress and a dresser down three flights of an old staircase.

Here's the honest part other cities can't offer: Cap Hill is flat. In San Francisco or Seattle a walk-up carry means fighting a hill on top of the stairs, and everyone tacks on a fee for it. On Capitol Hill it's just stairs on level ground — so the promise is clean: we carry it down whatever floor it's on, and the stairs are already in the flat price. No elevator surcharge, no per-flight line, no "difficult access" fee invented on the day. For the mansion conversions with narrow, winding staircases, we disassemble bed frames, sectionals and oversized dressers to bring them down cleanly — still one flat number.

How much does a Cap Hill apartment cleanout cost?

Flat and photo-quoted. A leftover pile or a studio starts at the $75 minimum; a whole unit is usually cheaper priced as a truck-fill. The carry-down, the drive, and the disposal are all in the number.

JobFlat price
Minimum job (a leftover pile)$75
Truck-fill — 1/4 (a studio / one room)$325
Truck-fill — 1/2 (a 1-bedroom)$580
Truck-fill — 3/4 (a large 1–2 bed)$790
Truck-fill — full (a full 2-bed unit)$985
Sofa / couch (single)$170
Queen mattress$139
King mattress$154

$75 minimum. Carry-down and disposal included. A few big pieces? We add up their flat prices; clearing most of the unit, we price it as a truck-fill and give you the lower of the two. No elevator surcharge and no Colorado sales tax on the service.

For context, national cost guides put a full truckload in the $550–$900 range, and traditional haulers price a walk-up by volume and routinely add stair or elevator upcharges confirmed only on site. Our truck-fill is quoted flat from your photos before we roll, carry-down already included.

Does Denver pick up apartment furniture on Cap Hill?

Barely, and usually not for renters at all. The City & County of Denver runs a free Large Item Pickup program (scheduled through Denver 311 · 720-913-1311), but it's built for single-family trash customers, not apartment buildings — most Cap Hill walk-ups use a private hauler and aren't on the city route in the first place. Even where it does apply, it runs only about once every nine weeks, caps you at five large items, is curbside-only, and excludes appliances, electronics and tires entirely. A one-bedroom move-out — a sofa, a mattress, a dresser, a desk, a few lamps and a stack of boxes — blows past the five-item cap before you've cleared the living room, and no lease deadline waits nine weeks. Plus, dragging it all down to a Cap Hill curb from a third-floor unit is the exact work you'd be paying to avoid. That's the gap we fill: we come to the unit, carry it down the stairs today, and haul it in one flat-priced trip.

What we clear out of a Cap Hill apartment

What happens to it after we carry it down

A move-out is full of things with life left in them, so we route donation first — usable sofas, dressers and tables go to Goodwill of Colorado, ARC Thrift Stores, or Habitat for Humanity ReStore, with a tax receipt on request. Mattresses can't go in regular Denver trash and don't belong in a landfill, so they're routed to a mattress recycler where they're broken down for their steel, foam and fiber. What's genuinely worn out is disposed responsibly, every load tarped — which on the Front Range also keeps the tip fee from doubling for an uncovered truck. It's all in the flat price, and it lines up with Denver's push toward waste diversion.

Parking, stairs, and the buildings we know

The details are where a Cap Hill cleanout goes sideways, so we handle them. Parking on a packed, permit-heavy block off Colfax or 13th is our problem, not yours — we stage the truck legally and carry from the unit. The stairs in a century-old brick walk-up are routine for us, priced flat with no per-flight fee. And the tight, turning staircases in the mansion conversions just mean we disassemble the big pieces before we bring them down. Wherever the unit is and whatever floor it's on, we come to it — you never drag anything to the curb.
